Breed StandardsAccording to the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Ridgeback represents a strong, muscular and active hound, that is symmetrical and balanced in outline. Ridgebacks are handsome, athletic dogs. They are capable of great endurance with a fair amount of speed. Ridgebacks have a dignified temperament and are devoted and affectionate to their owners. They are generally reserved with strangers. The unique feature of the breed is the ridge on the back, which is the characteristic feature of the breed. Ridgebacks are cherished family dogs with native origins in Africa where they were used to track and bay lions. You can view the full AKC breed standard here.
Our Ridgebacks meet and exceed the breed standard! All of our pets are fully registered with the AKC and have the distinct ridge along their back. While each one has their own personality, each Ridgeback is loyal and devoted to us and may be slightly reserved around strangers. They are generally friendly with dignified, even temperaments. |

WheatenRhodesian Ridgebacks come in only one color - wheaten - which spans every shade in a wheat field. Some Ridgebacks are pale flaxen and others are burnished red of a maturing crop. Ridgebacks also have two nose colors: black and the less commonly seen brown. All of our Ridgebacks have a black nose. Maizy (pictured on the left) is medium wheaten while both Millie (pictured on the right) and Gazi (pictured above) are dark red wheaten. All are absolutely beautiful!

PersonalityThe Rhodesian Ridgeback breed can be strong willed, independent, and sometimes domineering. They are faithful friends, protective of their loved ones, and extremely affectionate with those they trust. All of our Ridgebacks have great personalities! Millie (pictured above) is slightly more independent than Maizy (pictured on the left) and Gazi (pictured in the center). They are all lovingly affectionate with our large family.
